C\ufeffentral Coast Mariners<\/a> assistant coach, Danny Schofield, has been hit with a two-match ban, one suspended, after his crazy act during the side's semi-final against Sydney FC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On May 18, Schofield was given \ufeffa second yellow card and subsequent red card after protesting a decision by referee Alireza Faghani to not book Sydney FC defender Hayden Matthews<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Faghani gave Schofield a yellow card then gestured for him to sit down.<\/p>\n

Schofield faked to sit down before eventually taking his seat, however it wasn't good enough for the referee as he gave him his marching orders.<\/p>\n

An A League official then tried to usher Schofield off the field before he gestured towards the \ufeffSydney FC bench and then gave the middle finger to the live TV broadcast.<\/p>\n

"I don't think we need that Danny," commentator Simon Hill said on Paramount+.<\/p>\n

\ufeffSchofield was then banned from the dressing room, tunnel, field of play and technical area for the A League grand final between the Mariners and Melbourne Victory.<\/p>\n

He was also prohibited from having contact with the media two hours before the match.<\/p>\n

\ufeffOn Monday (June 17), Football Australia announced the two-match suspension for Schofield, determining he'd breached the code of conduct and ethics.<\/p>\n

One will be for the next A League season with another game suspended and will be triggered if he breaches the code of conduct and ethics again. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Schofield, who submitted an apology, has until 5pm (AEST) \ufeffon June 24 to appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
