A man suspected of shooting and killing a Florida high school football coach has been arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department, according to local news stations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keon Bernard Smith, a quarterback coach at Norland High School, was shot around June 3 around 1 a.m. outside the apartment complex of his girlfriend, Brittney Grant. Police said that Lance Rolle, 39, was the ex-boyfriend of Grant and believe he shot Smith before fleeing, according to <\/span>CBS News Miami<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Local10.com<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a police report <\/span>obtained by<\/span> Local10, Rolle arrived at the complex uninvited and knocked on the bedroom window. When Rolle and Grant spoke, Rolle said Smith was in bed. Local10 reported:<\/span><\/p>\n

“The report states Rolle then forcibly entered through the window and pointed a gun at Smith and ordered him and Grant to leave the apartment.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Smith had been married to his wife, India Smith, for 24 years. After the arrest took place, she spoke with WSVN News, saying she was encouraged by the arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeon was an awesome man. He was an awesome husband. He was my friend. He was the father to my children,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s been extremely hard for myself and my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two have eight children and a pair of grandchildren, according to NBC Miami.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a good man, he was a good man,\u201d India Smith said. \u201cHe doesn’t have the opportunity to coach his final son who want to play football.\u201d<\/p>\n
