C\ufeffonor McGregor<\/a>'s much-anticipated return to the UFC<\/a> has been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The former two-division champion was scheduled to take on Michael Chandler<\/a> in the main event of UFC 303 on June 30 (AEST) but has withdrawn due to injury, according to UFC president Dana White<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, the main event will now see Alex Pereira defend his UFC light heavyweight title against JiYi Prochazka.<\/p>\n

McGregor, who is 22-6, was set to return to the competition for the first time since he broke his leg in a brutal loss against Dustin Poirier in 2021.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old has only fought four times since his feature boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The announcement marks the first time McGregor has withdrawn from an event for any reason in his famed UFC career.<\/p>\n

White revealed the sell-out event was on track to set a record for the UFC, with the event live gate making over $30 million AUD.<\/p>\n
