A\ufeff fan has been charged by police after running onto the field during a Major League Baseball<\/a> clash between the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old, who has since been named as William Hendon, appeared in court on Thursday (AEST) after invading the field of play during an MLB fixture.<\/p>\n

The spectator managed to run free from security and police, before performing an impressive standing backflip right \ufeffin front of an officer.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, his antics came to an abrupt end when the policeman tasered Hendon and handcuffed him in front of thousands of fans at the Great American Ball Park.<\/p>\n

Hendon would appear in court the day after the game, still donning his Reds shirt, where he was charged with criminal trespassing and obstructing official business.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The judge, William Mallory, \ufeffquizzed the teenager regarding his manoeuvre.<\/p>\n

"Everybody thinks you landed that backflip," he said, according to a report from the hearing at the Hamilton County Municipal Court.<\/p>\n

"I'm pretty sure I did," Hendon replied.<\/p>\n

The criminal trespassing count was reduced to a misdemeanour\ufeff, despite protests from the prosecution in the case.<\/p>\n

Hendon pleaded not guilty and is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on July 3.<\/p>\n
