N\ufeffRL boss Andrew Abdo<\/a> has threatened "serious consequences" towards those found to be contract tampering, with the saga involving young gun Lachlan Galvin<\/a> heating up.<\/p>\n

The teenager has reportedly requested a release multiple times from his deal at the Wests Tigers<\/a>, with multiple clubs including Penrith interested in luring the playmaker.<\/p>\n

Galvin has been a shining light for the struggling joint-venture this season and is signed until the end of 2026, but his management is pushing for an early exit.<\/p>\n

Shane Richardson sent a public warning on Nine's 100% Footy<\/em> earlier this week<\/a>, urging rival clubs to steer clear of attempting to lure the 18-year-old away from Concord.<\/p>\n

And in a boost for the Tigers, the game's chief decision-maker told media on Wednesday that any clubs found guilty of anti-tampering in Galvin's case or any other would come under investigation from the NRL.<\/p>\n

"The rules are there for a reason," Abdo said.<\/p>\n

"It's important to protect the integrity of the game. It's important for all stakeholders, not just the players but the clubs themselves and the fans. We take this very seriously.<\/p>\n

"The clubs, players and the agents are all aware of what the rules are. If they break the rules, there will be serious consequences."<\/p>\n

As for what those punishments could be, Abdo was a little less definitive.<\/p>\n

"It depends on the circumstances, the case and the individuals involved," he said.<\/p>\n

"There are a wide range of penalties, not just financial penalties, that we can apply."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Galvin's contract is a modest one given the fact he only finished high school last year, before being thrust into first grade by head coach Benji Marshall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But with his performances drawing attention from other teams, the Tigers may need to reassess his salary and find a way to keep the rookie from becoming disgruntled and continuing to agitate for a release. Richardson has reportedly attempted to appease Galvin and his manager by offering an upgrade on his current deal with the catch that he would need to extend his contract beyond its current 2026 expiry.<\/p>\n

Galvin isn't the only player who \ufeffis hoping to leave the Tigers at the end of 2024, with front-rower Stefano Utoikamanu<\/a> also expected to move on despite a lucrative extension offer.<\/p>\n
