Uncapped backs Josh Flook and Darby Lancaster are being tipped for \ufeffWallabies<\/a> callups as the clock ticks down to Joe Schmidt's much anticipated first Test squad.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Wallabies will wait on the result of Friday's Blues vs Brumbies Super Rugby Pacific semi-final<\/a> before settling on a date for the squad announcement.<\/p>\n

Schmidt's first assignment<\/a> is two home Tests against Wales (July 6 in Sydney and July 13 in Melbourne) before a July 20 clash with Georgia in Sydney.<\/p>\n

\"Wallabies<\/p>\n

The former Ireland coach is likely to lean heavily on Brumbies in his initial matchday 23 with little time in camp to build combinations and cohesion.<\/p>\n

The Reds and Rebels bowed out of the title race in the quarter-finals but Tim Horan and Cameron Shepherd said two young guns would likely be in Schmidt's thoughts.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I think Josh Flook's had a really good year for the Queensland Reds," Horan said on Stan Sport's Rugby Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"He's got a few more kgs on board in the off season. It's interesting, I was talking to Jeff Wilson over in Hamilton, he was saying that (All Blacks flanker) Dalton Papalii and those type of players, when they came back from Rugby World Cup, they said we needed to put on more kgs to take the hits of Test footy. Super Rugby's different.<\/p>\n

"It's a bit more open, expansive. I think Josh Flook is ready for Test footy now. I don't think he'll get a starting spot, Len Ikitau will be the No.1 13 (outside centre), but I think Josh Flook is a bit of a bolter."<\/p>\n

Shepherd liked the Flook call.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has already banked 50 games for the Reds and has been compared to All Blacks great Conrad Smith.<\/a><\/p>\n

"From what I've heard as well, he's very coachable, very easy to move into different setups, different positions. We've seen how adaptable he's been through the years," Shepherd said.<\/p>\n

Winger Lancaster, meanwhile, has caught the eye with his pace and power at the Rebels.<\/p>\n

\"Rebels<\/p>\n

He is in the frame to play sevens for Australia at the Olympics if not selected for the Wallabies.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Really solid, does the simple things," Shepherd said.<\/p>\n

"He's quick, he's big, he's strong, he's good when the ball's in the air and he seems to just adapt in situations. Not always easy assignments out on the wing for the Rebels this year and I thought he did brilliantly."<\/p>\n

\"Darby<\/p>\n

Test legend Horan also liked the look of the 21-year-old flyer.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"The games I saw him play, he came off the wing at the right time, but he also stayed on his wing at the right time as well, in those sort of situations to be there to score," Horan said.<\/p>\n

"Some wingers, if they roam too much, they're not there when the cross field kick happens. So he's been good. So has Dylan Pietsch, just the size of them makes them a good Test footy player."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
