Brisbane:<\/strong> Shayna Jack<\/a> has declared "you'll see a lot of tears" if she qualifies for her first Olympic Games<\/a> in Brisbane this week, having returned to the pool after the drugs saga that resulted in a spiral into depression and thoughts of suicide<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old speedster qualified for the women's 200m freestyle final at Australia's Paris 2024<\/a> swimming trials on Wednesday morning, progressing as the sixth-fastest qualifier with a time of 1:56.98.<\/p>\n

She then spoke briefly to reporters at Brisbane Aquatic Centre, reflecting on the drugs controversy that ruined her dream of competing at the Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffYou'll see a lot of tears, that's for sure. It'll probably be one of the most special moments. But for me I don't think anything will trump returning to the pool in general," said Jack, who will contest the 200m freestyle final on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Jack was hit with a four-year ban after testing positive to a performance-enhancing drug called Ligandrol in June 2019.<\/p>\n

She later had the ban reduced to two years after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) determined she had not ingested the substance knowingly.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Jack suggested in 2020 that a contaminated blender was the possible source of her positive drugs test.<\/p>\n

Her ban ended in September 2021, a month after being forced to miss the postponed Tokyo Olympics\ufeff.<\/p>\n

She's spoken previously of being "done with the process" and "done with life" as the scandal took a horrific toll.<\/p>\n

"When I stand on that stage tonight, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, no matter what the result is I've already proven myself [by] coming back and doing what I had to do," Jack said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"I've already done my job and now it's time to enjoy it."<\/p>\n

Ariarne Titmus (1:55.50), Mollie O'Callaghan (1:55.68) and Lani Pallister (1:56.54) qualified with the fastest times for the 200m freestyle final.<\/p>\n

Jack will also race the 50m and 100m freestyle events at the trials.<\/p>\n
