A week after losing a playoff with fellow Aussie Cam Davis<\/a> in a qualifying event for a spot in this weekend's US Open at Pinehurst No.2, Adam Scott<\/a> looks set to play after all.<\/p>\n

Having opted to skip this weekend's Memorial \ufeffTournament \u2013 where Scottie Scheffler<\/a> won his first event since being thrown in jail at the PGA Championship \u2013 Scott's world ranking was expected to slip to No.61, one place outside automatic qualification.<\/p>\n

But when the rankings were released, Scott \ufeffheld onto his spot by the barest of margins. His major appearance streak will extend to 92.<\/p>\n

Had he slipped to 61st in the rankings, Scott would have been playing anyway in circumstances that would have been equally bizarre and tragic.<\/p>\n

The OWGR's rolling two-year formula meant Grayson Murray \u2013 who died last month only hours after withdrawing from the Charles Schwab Cup Challenge<\/a> \u2013 was a chance to rise above Scott and into the qualification spot.<\/p>\n

The USGA over the weekend confirmed had Murray climbed above Scott, he would've been removed.<\/p>\n

Scott holds the longest streak of major appearances in golf, stretching back to the 2001 US Open. His active streak is more than double that of the next current player, Jordan Spieth (44).<\/p>\n

Last week, Cam Davis beat Scott on the third hole of a playoff during a long day of US Open qualifying.<\/p>\n

Scott has played in every major since the 2001 British Open, and won the 2013 Masters.<\/p>\n
