Western Bulldogs<\/a> midfielder Tom Liberatore<\/a> will likely make his long awaited return from concussion in round 13 against Brisbane on Friday night.<\/p>\n

But coach Luke Beveridge<\/a> is adamant about the veteran taking a fresh approach to his in-and-under game, as his long history of head trauma<\/a> becomes a concern.<\/p>\n

It's a huge step forward for the 31-year-old, who has suffered several head knocks over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n

It comes after he was ruled out "indefinitely" after suffering a nasty concussion in his side's seven-point loss to Hawthorn in round eight.<\/a>\ufeff<\/p>\n

The midfielder copped a stray boot to his head, which split open his forehead in scary scenes.<\/p>\n

Then, after two weeks on the sidelines, he was given the green light to return to senior football, with the club confirming he will be available for selection in "two to three weeks" at the end of May.<\/p>\n

But Beveridge is still sticking by his cautious approach\ufeff, confirming Liberatore has been confident at training as he gears up for a senior football return.<\/p>\n

"He should be fine (to play)," Beveridge said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"He's been training with the group and getting through most things. So we anticipate that he'll be OK."<\/p>\n

Despite his likely return, Liberatore has been forced to change his hardened ways, that include being fearless around the footy.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We've done a bit of that with him (learning to protect his head)," Beveridge said.<\/p>\n

"You see the commitment and the head-first stuff, we want him to do it a little bit differently.<\/p>\n

"(When the) instincts kick in, he might not be able to. The players are looking after each other a little bit more as the games continue to be ticked off.<\/p>\n

"But we've done a little bit of work, and that'll continue."<\/p>\n

Beveridge has backed the club's "ultra-conservative" approach to his return, as concussion and its impacts begin to become more understood.<\/p>\n

"We've been conservative, been ultra-conservative, with him," he said.<\/p>\n

"But as far as head scans and all that he appears fine."<\/p>\n
