NSW<\/a> coach M\ufeffichael Maguire<\/a> has reacted to his side's loss to Queensland<\/a> in the State of Origin opener, refusing to comment on the performance of halfback Nicho Hynes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On a horror night for the Blues that saw Joseph Suaalii sent off inside the opening 10 minutes<\/a>, Hynes struggled to steady the ship in the halves alongside Jarome Luai.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old also had a tough night at the office – and while he wasn't alone, the spotlight will be on the Cronulla superstar in the ruthless post-mortem.<\/p>\n

When quizzed on Hynes' performance post-game, Maguire gave an ominous response that wasn't an endorsement for him to be retained as the No.7 for the crucial game two fixture.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I won't make any comment about someone's game until I go back and have a look at it," the coach said in his press conference.<\/p>\n

"They are a pretty disappointed change room in there and I'm not gonna talk about people's performances. I'll have a look at that first and then talk to them individually.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I've been in this circumstance before, so I know exactly what we will do."<\/p>\n

Hynes was busy in his first start at Origin level, running for over 120 metres and setting up a try for Zac Lomax, but his kicking game and organisation left plenty to be desired. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The pressure will only be amplified on Hynes, as well as five-eighth Luai, given the recent return of Mitchell Moses and the looming presence of Matt Burton.<\/p>\n

Maguire acknowledged the Suaalii send off did cripple his team, but praised their efforts under trying circumstances. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"At this level, playing with 12 [is hard] – but I just spoke to the players about how hard they wanted to work for each other throughout that game," he said.<\/p>\n

"We put ourselves in positions at times where we were quite dominant, but fatigue comes in at some stage. I'm actually super proud of their efforts, individuals were out on their feet \u2026 they have really shifted the dime on how hard they want to work.<\/p>\n

"If we have 13 players out there, it's a whole different ball game."<\/p>\n
