Michael Hooper has urged Carter Gordon to join the wooden spoon Waratahs<\/a> as debate over the Wallabies playmaker's future heats up.<\/p>\n

The impending demise of the Rebels has created an intriguing market<\/a> and Rugby Australia is working with the players to find them homes.<\/p>\n

NSW have Tane Edmed and Jack Bowen on the books for next season but Hooper believes Gordon would be a terrific fit in Sydney.<\/p>\n

"I'd love to see Carter Gordon come to NSW," the Wallabies and Waratahs great said on Stan Sport's Between Two Posts<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I think he would be a really good person to have there. I think he's got so much growth in him. But he's had some really beautiful touches already in his career. He's got to get his goal kicking a bit up to standard."<\/p>\n

The other three Australian clubs appear well set at No.10 with Noah Lolesio at the Brumbies, Tom Lynagh at the Reds and Ben Donaldson at the Force.<\/p>\n

Edmed was included in Joe Schmidt's initial Wallabies training squad to prepare for next month's Tests against Wales and Georgia.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But former Wallabies outside back Cameron Shepherd said Gordon to the Waratahs made sense.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's a great player and he's probably one of the most experienced 10s we've got at the moment. He's got huge potential," Shepherd said on Stan Sport's Rugby Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"We've certainly seen flashes of it in the Melbourne Rebels jersey and in a Wallaby jersey. However, I just think Australian rugby needs to be a little bit careful about manipulating these movements too much.<\/p>\n

"You've got to remember this is a job as well as a passion for these guys. And you're also talking about their homes, for individuals and maybe homes for their families. So it's a difficult situation, that a lot of these Rebels players are going to face and RA in particular."<\/p>\n

RA have spoken to Rebels players about their 2025 preferences and don't have the ability – or desire – to force someone to sign with a club against their will.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But Wallabies legend Tim Horan said RA should still be aggressive at putting the jigsaw pieces together for the good of the wider game.\ufeff<\/p>\n
