New Blues<\/a> coach Michael Maguire<\/a> has shot down any suggestion of a late team change before the State of Origin<\/a> opener.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIt comes amid speculation New South Wales may yet bring super-boot utility Matt Burton into the side to take on Queensland<\/a> at Sydney's Accor Stadium on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Critics have suggested the Blues will be caught short if \ufeffany of the halves or backs are injured during the game.<\/p>\n

Maguire has named four forwards on his bench, while Maroons counterpart Billy Slater has taken the unusual step of putting Selwyn Cobbo – a wing, fullback or centre – on his pine for game one.<\/p>\n

Brad Fittler's Blues were caught out twice during last year's series when Tom Trbojevic was forced off the field in the first two games – both of which they lost.<\/p>\n

And while Burton has been named 18th man this week, Maguire is adamant that's where the playmaker will remain.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffNo, I'm really confident in the 17 that I've got," Maguire told media on Tuesday when asked if Burton will come into the team.<\/p>\n

"We've got a really good plan and we've practiced that way.<\/p>\n

"We\ufeff've got the 17 guys lined up and they are ready to go. We got the combos going throughout the week.<\/p>\n

"If we need to have some subtle adjustments through what a game can bring, we have planned for it.<\/p>\n

"We've got a plan for everything. I'm really confident in the 17 we've got."<\/p>\n

Maroons coach Slater suggested his team has prepared for any possible late NSW team change.<\/p>\n

The Blues have already been forced to recall James Tedesco at fullback after debutant Dylan Edwards was injured on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"\ufeffWe've spent a little bit of time on the opposition," Slater said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

"There's already been a change in their team that we've – not changed our preparation – but made sure we're aware of Tedesco's strengths, \ufeffhe's a different type of player to Dylan Edwards."<\/p>\n

Unlike Maguire, Slater very much left the door ajar for a possible late Queensland switch.<\/p>\n

While he's adamant Cobbo will take his spot on the bench, the coach left journalists guessing as to what his final line-up will look like on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWe've still got a little bit of time to go," Slater said.<\/p>\n
