Sydney Swans<\/a> coach John Longmire<\/a>\ufeff has admitted he feels the AFL holds a "slight" Victorian bias.<\/p>\n

Longmire's Swans are sitting pretty at the top of the AFL table, with a 10-1 record heading into their round 13 clash after their bye.<\/p>\n

But as Sydney creep closer to locking in a top four spot, \ufeffLongmire knows that even if they do qualify for a home final and make it all the way to that last Saturday in September, they'll be forced to play a grand final at the MCG – away from home.<\/p>\n

Longmire has opened up on what it feels like as an interstate side looking into the \ufeffVictorian bubble.<\/p>\n

"Most people, even our CEO Tom Harley, who spent most of his time (career) in Victoria and then move to anywhere outside of Victoria … talk about the challenges they're not aware of," Longmire said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

\"John<\/p>\n

"It's not until you live it and experience it, that you know\ufeff what you're talking about.<\/p>\n

"There is a slight bias\ufeff, you'd have to say."<\/p>\n

Despite feeling there is an unfairness, Longmire\ufeff can see the league making active changes to the way the game is operating.<\/p>\n

"I think that things are changing\ufeff, particularly through the AFL at the moment," Longmire said.<\/p>\n

\"Swans<\/p>\n

"It sounds like they're certainly working towards evening up the uneven competition."<\/p>\n

But one thing the AFL refuses to change, is holding the grand final at the MCG each year.<\/p>\n

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is contracted to host the grand final until at least 2059.<\/p>\n

\ufeffNow, Longmire is keen for the league's equalisation promises to be put to work, suggesting that conversations should start around a best-of-three grand final series.<\/p>\n

"We're on the record as saying that's something the AFL should consider\ufeff," he said.<\/p>\n

It would mean the Swans could play one of the grand final matches at their home ground, the SCG, their opposition's home ground and one neutral venue.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"If you're looking at equalisation in the true sense of the word, it's hard to argue with\ufeff," he said.<\/p>\n

But it would not be an easy thing to introduce.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\"John<\/p>\n

"It would put a fair bit of strain on the players … you'd have to look it as part of a wider discussion," Longmire said.<\/p>\n

"That may be reducing the season and doing things like wildcard rounds … different things you might be able to do to add up for the money that would be lost if you were going to reduce the season.<\/p>\n

"We should be open-minded enough to explore the possibilities.\ufeff"<\/p>\n
