Richmond<\/a>'s Marlion Pickett<\/a> will receive a please explain from the AFL after he made an obscene gesture\ufeff towards the Geelong crowd at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The Tigers went down by 30 points at the hands of the Cats<\/a>, falling away in the second half as Geelong piled on 10 goals to three after half time.<\/p>\n

A clearly frustrated Pickett was hobbling off the ground after sustaining a calf injury, when he was allegedly thrown verbal abuse from fans in the crowd.<\/p>\n

\ufeffPickett quickly reacted with a gesture that has left the league unhappy.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old explained his action on Sunday, when he was undergoing scans on that calf issue.<\/p>\n

Pickett said that he was disrespected by fans at GMHBA Stadium.<\/p>\n

"As players, we cop a lot of stuff from the fence line," he said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

"Every week there's disrespectful (stuff)."<\/p>\n

The Tiger defended his action, explaining that \ufeffhe thinks it's unfair that players are forced to "cop" abuse every week.<\/p>\n

"It's just emotions at the end of the day," Pickett said.<\/p>\n

"If we can't show emotions, we're just going to cop whatever the crowd says."<\/p>\n

Pickett was subbed out of the Tigers' loss after that calf caused him trouble.<\/p>\n

It came just before forward teammate Mykelti Lefau went down with a season-ending ACL injury.<\/p>\n

Lefau fell awkwardly after attempting to mark the ball in Richmond's forward 50 in the final term.<\/p>\n

Scans revealed the worst news on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It's Lefau's second ACL rupture of his career, after he did the same injury on the opposite knee in round seven of 2022.\ufeff<\/p>\n
