One shot put Minjee Lee<\/a> right in the mix to clinch her second US Women's Open<\/a>, and third major.<\/p>\n

She will begin the final round in a three-way tie for the lead with Andrea Lee and Wichanee Meechai after carding a 4-under 66 in the third round.<\/p>\n

The 2022 champion would join the legendary Karrie Webb with two US Open crowns if she goes on to win.<\/p>\n

Lee was four strokes off the lead and struggling to get anything going when she hit her second shot on the par-5 seventh to less than a metre for a tap-in eagle.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Equally impressive was her tee shot to a scary front left pin on the notorious par-3 12th hole \u2013 the same one on which Nelly Korda made 10 on during the first round<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI actually thought there would be quite a few opportunities for birdie today," Lee said after the round.<\/p>\n

"It's moving day and knowing the USGA they would probably put a couple of the tees (forward) \u2013 I thought the setup was really great today.<\/p>\n

"So I'm really looking forward to tomorrow."<\/p>\n

Lee said her game plan for her final round on Monday morning (AEST) was simple \u2013 stay in her own game.<\/p>\n

"Take it step by step. It's going to be tricky \u2013 there's gonna be a lot of eyes on you, a lot of fans out there," she said.<\/p>\n

"Just be patient, I'm just gonna stick to my game plan and my processes, and I think that's the best thing that I can do."<\/p>\n

Lee had a birdie putt on 18 lip out that would have given her the outright lead going into the final round. She will play in the final group anyway.<\/p>\n

Behind that three-way tie for the lead at 5-under, only two other players are under par.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Nelly Korda and other big stars in women's golf were long gone from Lancaster Country Club. Left behind was a tremendous give-and-take among five players who remained under par.<\/p>\n

Everyone else was over par, and Lancaster Country Club isn't the track that allows for big charges. It's more hang on for dear life, particularly in a final round at a US Open.<\/p>\n

At stake is a $3.6 million payoff to the winner, by far the largest in women's golf. Lancaster has had huge galleries all week, just like in 2015, and the stage might feel even bigger.<\/p>\n

Three of the contenders under par are former major champions. Andrea Lee was a decorated amateur who has one LPGA victory.<\/p>\n

Meechai might be the most honest about her chances.<\/p>\n

She is staying in a house by herself \u2014 it was rented by a Thai player who didn't qualify \u2014 and thought the house might be haunted. \u201cIf they have a ghost in the house, I think the ghost likes me,\u201d she said earlier in the week.<\/p>\n

And then she told of waking up at 3am ahead her third round.<\/p>\n

She said she had been dreaming of the US Women's Open.<\/p>\n

"I think it's in my mind, very deep in there,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don't think I can get rid of it. I'm trying to get along with it. I hope it works."<\/p>\n
