New Blues<\/a> skipper Jake Trbojevic<\/a> \ufeffhas revealed he was walking his dog with his fiance when he got a phone call from coach Michael Maguire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The loveable prop was made captain after Maguire axed incumbent and fullback James Tedesco<\/a> in favour of Panthers gun Dylan Edwards.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking to media on Monday, Maguire said Trbojevic's reaction indicated the news came as a surpr\ufeffise<\/a>. A day later the man himself confirmed it was a "shock".<\/p>\n

"But it's such a great honour," Trbojevic said in Blues camp.<\/p>\n

"Any time you get to play for the state is special, but to get to be the leader of NSW, it's a true honour and something I'm really looking forward to.<\/p>\n

"I was walking my dog with my fiance, Alex. She reckons I went white. I really couldn't believe it."<\/p>\n

Maguire said awarding Trbojevic the captaincy was an easy decision, and compared his passion for the Blues jersey to that of legend Steve\ufeff Mortimer.<\/p>\n

Trbojevic said his entire family \u2013 mum, dad, and even his nan \u2013 were all overwhelmed by the news.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Nicho Hynes has declared himself fit, despite sill battling a calf niggle.<\/p>\n

"The scans came up pretty good \u2013 I don't think the Sharks would've let me come in, and they wouldn't have had me in here if I wasn't ready to go and they weren't fully confident I'd be ready to play next Wednesday," he said.<\/p>\n

Hynes is hoping to be training by the end of the week to shore up the relationship with new halves partner Jarome Luai.<\/p>\n

But that aspect will be made somewhat easier given the pair have played alongside each other before \u2013 albeit a \ufeffdecade ago.<\/p>\n

"Jarome and I played touch footy for NSW back in the day when we were in high school," he said.<\/p>\n
