The London Broncos<\/a> are seeking legal advice after Hull FC's<\/a> Herman Ese'ese escaped a ban for alleged "verbal abuse" against a London player.<\/p>\n

Ese'ese was facing six games on the sidelines after he was cited and then charged, only for new evidence to clear him of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n

The Broncos were asked by the RFL to provide further evidence for the charges to stick. The Broncos did so, which led to Ese'ese facing a hearing but the RFL reversed course after new evidence came to light, with the case "unequivocally withdrawn".<\/p>\n

"Herman Ese'Ese of Hull FC will no longer face an Operational Rules Tribunal, as had been stated last week, following the submission of further evidence to the RFL's Match Review Panel which has led to the charge of verbal abuse in a Betfred Super League fixture against London Broncos on May 12 being unequivocally withdrawn," the statement reads.<\/p>\n

"The RFL is happy to correct the record and ensure that it is publicly acknowledged that Herman is not guilty of any offence.<\/p>\n

"The new evidence includes an enhanced recording which has been prepared by a specialist sound engineer using the referee's microphone. This evidence is compelling and contradicts the basis of the original allegations."<\/p>\n

The Broncos player who made the complaint remains unconfirmed, but a statement published on the club's website said the club would explore its legal options.<\/p>\n

"London Broncos were made aware of the decision and subsequent announcement made by the RFL at lunchtime today," the club said.<\/p>\n

"The club is now processing the information provided to them and how the RFL came to this decision and is seeking legal advice.<\/p>\n

The complaint arose from a round 11 clash between the two teams earlier this month, which the Broncos won 34-18.<\/p>\n

The charge was centred on "verbal abuse based on race, colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national or ethnic origin."<\/p>\n

Ese'ese joined Hull FC at the end of the 2023 season from the Dolphins, and has previously played for the Bulldogs, Brisbane Broncos, Newcastle Knights and the Gold Coast Titans over the course of a nine-year NRL career.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
