M\ufeffatthew Lloyd<\/a> believes St Kilda is as "far away" from a premiership as Richmond, declaring that North Melbourne is even closer to a flag then Ross Lyon<\/a>'s troops.<\/p>\n

S\ufefft Kilda<\/a> slumped to 15th on the AFL ladder after a 38-point loss at the hands of Melbourne on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

It leaves the Saints with a dismal \ufeff3-8 record after 11 rounds, as questions continue to be raised around the ability of coach Lyon and his defensive game plan.<\/p>\n

Lyon defended his side's loss and attempted to draw attention to the positives, headlined by blooding young players.<\/p>\n

Lyon also addressed the St Kilda board last week, reportedly admitting that the players are not performing up to expectation.<\/p>\n

Now, Lloyd has declared that Lyon's flailing list is the worst the club has had in years.<\/p>\n

"I think as we sit here right now, they're alongside Richmond in as far away as any club, to winning a premiership\ufeff," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

\"Saints<\/p>\n

When asked if St Kilda are further from success than North Melbourne, Lloyd agreed.<\/p>\n

"I think so," he said.<\/p>\n

"I think North's kids are far superior than St Kilda's. That's an opinion."<\/p>\n

Lloyd \ufeffhas now called on Lyon to find the spark in the young group, the way he used to inspire the Saints teams of the early 2000s.<\/p>\n

"What I worry about for Ross… Ross' greatest strength was always getting his players to play as he wants," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

"I watched that media conference (after the Melbourne loss). He spoke about even the marks. Melbourne took 124 marks, they can't get their ball movement right inside 50, they can't defend the way they want.<\/p>\n

"He's got problems absolutely everywhere."<\/p>\n
