Kane Cornes<\/a> has made a big call on Melbourne<\/a> ruckman Max Gawn<\/a>, confident that he will be elevated to Legend status in the Australian Football<\/a> Hall of Fame one day.<\/p>\n

While there are no signs of Gawn slowing down or retiring any time soon, Cornes is convinced that if he continues down his successful path, there's no way he can't be considered the greatest ruckman to have ever played the game.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Gawn is the Demons' 2021 premiership captain, a six-time All-Australian\ufeff, two-time club best and fairest and the AFL coaches player of the year in 2018.\ufeff<\/p>\n

His performance in round 11, where he dominated St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall in the Demons' 48-point win at the MCG, is enough for Cornes and Matthew Lloyd to expect Gawn to collect more recognition at season's end.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Max Gawn… What a performance he put in – 27 disposals, 10 score involvements, 10 inside 50s," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Gawn's record across his 214 games is already astounding.<\/p>\n

Lloyd has no doubt the ruckman will add another All-Australian blazer to his wardrobe come the end of the season.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"It will be a seventh All-Australian, probably a third best and fairest," he said.<\/p>\n

Lloyd compared Gawn to Essendon great Simon Madden, who dominated across 19 seasons as a ruckman and key forward.<\/p>\n

Madden was a two-time premiership player, a three-time All-Australian and a six-time VFL team of the year player (equivalent to All-Australian).\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Is he second to Simon Madden?" Lloyd asked.<\/p>\n

Cornes went one step further, lauding the 32-year-old's ability, calling for him to be considered the greatest ruckman of all time.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Happy thinking Legend status in the Australian Football Hall of Fame," Cornes said.<\/p>\n

"I think that's the path he's going down.<\/p>\n

"If you're the best ruckman to ever play the game, if you're in that conversation\ufeff, you are eventually, whenever it happens, a Legend in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

"He's looking for a seventh All-Australian."<\/p>\n
