Former Collingwood<\/a> coach Nathan Buckley<\/a> has refused to shut the door on coaching the AFL's 19th side, Tasmania<\/a> Devils, when they enter the league in 2028.<\/p>\n

Buckley was axed as Pies coach at the end of the 2021 season.<\/p>\n

Since then, he has taken a step back from roles inside clubs, opting to focus on his media commitments.<\/p>\n

But, with his everyday roles on the radio and television, the question has already been thrown around on whether he would consider the gig if it was offered.\ufeff<\/p>\n

When asked by Kane Cornes if Buckley would like to be the inaugural Tassie Devils coach on Monday, he didn't give a straight answer.<\/p>\n

"Tassie is a beautiful state, isn't it?" Buckley said on SEN Radio.<\/p>\n

"Beautiful countryside. It's at one with nature. There's a lot that Tassie has going for it."<\/p>\n

Cornes asked if that answered meant a "yes", but Buckley still avoided a straight response.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Still plenty to go under the bridge, I would've thought," Buckley said.<\/p>\n

Tasmania was granted the league's 19th license, announcing their name, colours and logo earlier in 2024.<\/p>\n

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale has already notified the Tigers that he'll be heading down south to lead the Devils once they enter the competition.<\/p>\n

The club still has a long while to build the side up, but will naturally be looking to appoint a coach as early as possible to make the move and begin building a competitive culture.<\/p>\n

Buckley's experience as a senior coach saw him lead the Pies to a grand final in 2018.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
