Mitchell Marsh<\/a> will lead a very different looking side for Australia<\/a>'s first warm-up match ahead of the T20 World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marsh will have only nine of the 15 members of the squad available for the Namibia match, with the remainder given a break after the IPL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Travis Head<\/a>, Pat Cummins<\/a> and Mitchell Starc<\/a> all played in the final \ufeffon Monday morning (AEST). Starc won player of the match with bowling figures of 2-14 from three overs.<\/p>\n

Royal Challengers Bengaluru teammates Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell\ufeff were in the play-off matches last Thursday morning, while Marcus Stoinis played his last match for the Lucknow Super Giants last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Marsh said they were all being given a short break with their families before joining the rest of the squad in the Caribbean.\ufeff<\/p>\n

As travelling reserves, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short \ufeffare not allowed to play.<\/p>\n

"I'd like (former International Brad Hodge) Hodgy to open the batting, but we'll see how that plays out," Marsh told cricket.com.au with tongue firmly in cheek.<\/p>\n

"We're going to be undermanned a little bit, but it is a practice game.<\/p>\n

"The guys who need to play will play as much as they can and we'll figure it out from there."<\/p>\n

While the opener line was a joke, Hodge, coach Andrew McDonald, chief selector George Bailey, and assistant coach Andre Borovec \u2013 who played first grade in Victoria \u2013 would all play some kind of on-field sub-fielder role.<\/p>\n

The warm-up matches at this T20 World Cup\ufeff are a very casual affairs. Teams were not required to play any, and organising matches was left up to the sides wanting them.<\/p>\n

England, Pakistan and New Zealand are not playing any. Only one \u2013 India v Bangladesh \u2013 will be televised.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Marsh said given how rigorous the IPL schedule is, and how much time the squad generally spends together, he had no concerns about how close to the tournament they will all finally link up.<\/p>\n

"We prioritised giving them a couple of days at home to see their families, refresh, and play the long game for this tournament," he said.<\/p>\n

"We will get our 15 (all together) eventually, but really important that we give them a break, even if it's just a couple of days at home, that's really important."<\/p>\n

Marsh also revealed he is still yet to start bowling again after suffering a hamstring injury right at the start of the IPL on April 3.<\/p>\n

"I thought (this injury) was a three-weeker. Now it's been seven (weeks). With tendons it's a little bit on feel.<\/p>\n

"Once I was ruled out of the IPL, we certainly took our time. I'm exactly where I need to be with all the planning leading into the World Cup, I'll be ready to go."<\/p>\n

The Namibia match is scheduled for Wednesday. They have a second against the West Indies two days later.<\/p>\n

The Aussies start the T20 World Cup proper against Oman on June 6 (AEST).<\/p>\n

Earlier, Starc's stunning spell led the Kolkata Knight Riders to its third IPL title.<\/p>\n

Bowling first, the Knight Riders rolled the batting powerhouse of Pat Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderabad for only 113, and chased down the target in just the 11th over.<\/p>\n

Hyderabad's total was the lowest ever in an IPL final. They were bowled out in the 19th over.<\/p>\n

Kolkata previously won the IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 and had dominated this season by finishing on top at the end of league stage with nine wins from 14 games.<\/p>\n

Hyderabad had toppled IPL batting records throughout the season and scored over 265 three times during the league stage where it finished second behind Kolkata.<\/p>\n

"We were outplayed," Cummins said. "They didn\u2019t give us anything \u2026 they bowled fantastically. It was a tricky wicket (and) didn\u2019t feel like a 200-plus wicket, 160 would have given us a chance."<\/p>\n
