Wayne Bennett<\/a> had a cheeky response for a journalist who questioned the Dolphins<\/a> unfortunate track record in games outside of Queensland.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins have lost 15 from 17 games played outside of their home state since their foundation in 2023, with the Warriors<\/a> beating the side 24-20 in Auckland on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Bennett delivered his classic medley of dry responses during his post-match press conference, taking a subtle dig at a "stats man" reporter.<\/p>\n

"You're a stats man, good on ya. I hope they give us more in Queensland," Bennett said.<\/p>\n

"I didn't even know we couldn't win out of Queensland.<\/p>\n

"I assume you know much more than I do. I don't worry about where we win or lose.<\/p>\n

"Away games are always difficult because you're playing at the home of the opposition and they have their crowd behind them.<\/p>\n

"Honest to god, I didn't even think about that."<\/p>\n

Herbie Farnworth stunned in the opening half for the Dolphins, making 198 run metres, three line breaks, one try assist, and one try of his own.<\/p>\n

However, despite leading 16-6 at half time, the Dolphins were unable to stop the Warriors attacking line after star fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow dropped a game-turning bomb kick<\/a> \ufefflate in the second half.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins conceded five penalties compared to the Warriors' zero during the final 40 minutes, with \ufeffstar second-rower Kenny Bromwich also placed on report for a dangerous tackle.<\/p>\n

The Warriors scored three back-to-back tries to power home late in the game, with Bennett \ufeffadmitting he was satisfied with the effort shown by his team despite the sudden ate shift in possession.<\/p>\n

"A lot of effort no result," Bennett said.<\/p>\n

"It was pretty obvious [what point the game turned in the Warriors' favour]. The penalties, and a couple of dropped balls cost us two tries. Not hard to work out.<\/p>\n

"It didn't matter who the [Warriors] played, they were always going to play the same way they play."<\/p>\n
