K\ufeffane Cornes<\/a> is adamant that Geelong<\/a> will not win the 2024 premiership, after suffering a fourth-straight loss on Saturday.<\/p>\n

After starting 7-0, the Cats have hit a major form slump, losing four of their last four matches in painful fashion.<\/p>\n

Their fourth loss on the trot was at the hands of GWS by four points at GMHBA Stadium.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeffIt is the first time in Chris Scott<\/a>'s coaching career with the Cats that he has gone 0-4.<\/p>\n

It's also the first time Geelong has gone 0-4 since early 2006.<\/p>\n

The stats are damning for the 2022 premiership side, with Cornes now convinced their rocky month will cost them come September.<\/p>\n

"They can't win the premiership from here after losing four in a row," Cornes said on Nine's<\/em> Sunday Footy Show.<\/p>\n

"One of the reasons why is they butchered it late, the amount of opportunities they had<\/p>\n

Geelong had 24 forward 50 entries for one mark in the final term, which Cornes is worried is a sign of their inability through the middle.<\/p>\n

"They coughed up a golden opportunity last night," he said.<\/p>\n

Cornes has put Geelong's young midfield under the microscope, calling for the club to attempt to inject some life into the flailing stocks.<\/p>\n

"They can't win a premiership from here. Their midfield is so thin, they were destroyed in there once again," he said.<\/p>\n

"They've lost four in a row, they've lost two at home, it's not what you think from a premiership side\ufeff."<\/p>\n

Despite clear panic from externals, coach Chris Scott has said the club isn't getting carried away with the month-long losing streak.<\/p>\n

"We were 7-0 and certainly not carried away, so now we've lost the last four we certainly won't drop our bundle either," Scott said post match on Saturday.<\/p>\n

"If you take out the Gold Coast game, the three losses we've had were all pretty much by a kick."<\/p>\n

Geelong now sit sixth on the ladder after their most recent loss.<\/p>\n
