T\ufeffom Weaver might be small in stature – but the young gun's toughness places him in a prime spot to become the long-term halfback at the Gold Coast Titans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At just 172cm and 77kg, Weaver is among the shortest players in the NRL<\/a>, but has proven in the early stages of his career that he will never take a backwards step.<\/p>\n

Weaver made his return to the Titans lineup last weekend at Magic Round and despite a narrow loss to the Knights, showed plenty of composure \u2013 especially given the side w\ufeffere without the likes of AJ Brimson<\/a> and Kieran Foran<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Wide World Of Sports, \ufeffthe 21-year-old claimed his confidence never wavered during a period where he was in reserve grade or sidelined with injury.<\/p>\n

"I felt pretty good, I've been playing a fair bit of Cup for Tweed Seagulls and I've been training really hard," Weaver said.<\/p>\n

"I felt pretty confident coming in – I just want to do my job and control the game and lead the boys around. Once we get some momentum and field position, we start playing our brand of footy and we can really execute what we plan to do.<\/p>\n

"I always have confidence in myself that I would be able to do the job at six or seven, whether it's with Foz [Foran] or Tanah [Boyd] or AJ [Brimson].<\/p>\n

"I'm definitely confident if I'm given the opportunity, I will put my best foot forward and definitely try to get some more games under my belt."<\/p>\n

Weaver has played just two matches all season in the top grade \ufeffto go with the three games he played in 2023, but with some key playmakers unavailable has been granted a chance to lock down a spot in the halves.<\/p>\n

Head coach Des Hasler<\/a> has plenty of confidence in the young No.7 and Weaver is hopeful he can repay that in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

"He just wants to keep it simple," the halfback said.<\/p>\n

"He told me there's no pressure, take control of the team, show a bit of confidence."<\/p>\n

Weaver's teammate Brian Kelly is backing the rising star to cement himself as a long-term option at the club.<\/p>\n

"He plays good for his size," the experienced centre said.<\/p>\n
