NASCAR<\/a> champion Chase Elliott has called out the category for fining driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr for his part in a wild brawl with rival Kyle Busch following last weekend's All-Star Race<\/a>, after it had used video of the fight on social media.<\/p>\n

The $113,000 (US$75,000) was the largest fine ever handed down for fighting in NASCAR history.<\/p>\n

Elliott, speaking ahead of this weekend\u2019s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, said he knew Stenhouse had been fined but appeared stunned when informed the amount by a member of the media.<\/p>\n

"That seems like a lot for that situation," Elliott said. "You are going to fine him, but you are going to promote with it? Like, what are we doing? That\u2019s a little strange to me.<\/p>\n

\"NASCAR<\/p>\n

"That\u2019s a lot of money to fine a guy. It\u2019s like, 'It\u2019s not OK, but we are going to blast it all over everything to get more clicks'."<\/p>\n

Elliott was referring to NASCAR posting video of the fight at North Wilkesboro Speedway on the social platform X. The official account made seven different posts about the fight.<\/p>\n

Busch was not penalised.<\/p>\n

Stenhouse's father, Ricky Sr, \u2014 who has no affiliation with his son's team \u2014 was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR for his role in the fracas when he went after Busch.<\/p>\n

Stenhouse's mechanic Clint Myrick was suspended for eight races and engine tuner Keith Matthews for four races for their roles in the fight.<\/p>\n

Stenhouse and Busch tangled on the first lap before Busch appeared to deliberately wreck Stenhouse on the next lap.<\/p>\n

Stenhouse then parked his damaged car in Busch's pit stall, climbed the spotter's ladder and exchanged words with members of Busch\u2019s crew before retreating to his hauler.<\/p>\n

Stenhouse stewed in the infield for about two hours, waiting on Busch to finish the race, confronted him and threw a punch, which ignited a melee between the teams.<\/p>\n

"I think, really, what we all want is consistency and knowing what the rule is and what\u2019s OK and what\u2019s not OK," All-Star Race winner Joey Logano said.<\/p>\n

"That\u2019s really all you ask for. Whether it's the car, or restarts, or altercations apparently, just let me know the rules.<\/p>\n

"What is the price I'm about to pay if I make this decision and is it worth it? That\u2019s really how it\u2019s got to be, is just looking for consistency … where it\u2019s the same all the time.<\/p>\n

"I know it\u2019s hard to do, that's a lot to ask for because every situation could be a little bit different. It\u2019s a judgment call. There\u2019s no black and white."<\/p>\n
