National selector George Bailey has confirmed out-of-form Aaron Finch will captain Australia at this year's T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n

Finch's role as skipper of the team has continued to bring in heavy criticism, with his dismal run of form continuing after he was dismissed for just 12 runs during Australia's second T20 loss to New Zealand<\/a> last week. That performance followed the one run he made in the series opener in Christchurch.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old, who went unsold at the IPL auction<\/a> earlier this month, also had a tough BBL summer, averaging just 13.77 from 13 innings.<\/p>\n

Despite Finch's lack of form with the bat, Bailey ruled out any chance of the batsman being moved on from his duties as skipper with the World Cup in India approaching.<\/p>\n

"He's got a terrific average, he's the captain of this side and he'll be the captain of this side at the World Cup," Bailey told the Herald Sun.<\/p>\n

"It's just complete white noise for me."<\/p>\n

Australian cricket legend Ian Chappell last week said he hoped Pat Cummins, Alex Carey or Moises Henriques would be the front-runners<\/a> to take over the T20 captaincy if Finch was told his services were no longer needed.<\/p>\n

"Patrick Cummins is of course one they've got earmarked for leadership. They've had Alex Carey dangling there for a while and he's the Adelaide Strikers' captain, so he's got experience," Chappell told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"The one other candidate I'd have there: Henriques. He's had success with the Sydney Sixers and he's good enough to hold his place in the side."<\/p>\n
