Ryan Garcia's "B" sample came back positive, confirming the controversial boxer had banned substance Ostarine in his system<\/a> for his world title fight with Devin Haney.<\/p>\n

The news was confirmed by respected boxing journalist Dan Rafael, who said he had possession of the lab results conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association.<\/p>\n

Garcia's legal team responded to the claims by stating independent hair-sample analysis came back negative, which would indicate contamination rather than long-term use.<\/p>\n

"Ryan Garcia is committed to clean and fair competition and has never intentionally used any banned substance," their statement read.<\/p>\n

"Soon after being notified of his positive ['A' sample] test, Ryan voluntarily had his hair collected and shipped to Dr Pascal Kintz, the foremost expert in toxicology and hair-sample analysis. The results of Ryan's hair sample came back negative.<\/p>\n

"This is consistent with contamination and demonstrably proves that Ryan had not ingested Ostarine over a period of time \u2014 the only way he could have had any advantage whatsoever in the ring."<\/p>\n

Garcia responded to the news on social media in typical fashion, before deleting the posts.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Haney responded to Garcia's hair analysis claim, questioning the validity of his voluntary test.<\/p>\n

"Ryan & his team knew he would test positive that's why they did a bs 'hair test' on their own which who really he knows if they did it."<\/p>\n

Haney's team has already lobbied for the result to be disqualified and now with the results of the B sample known, a formal appeal is likely.<\/p>\n

Haney also called out Garcia's promoter Oscar De La Hoya for not being compensated for their bout.<\/p>\n

The positive tests were recorded the day before and the day of Garcia's fight with Haney, the latter who went down three times and lost a majority decision.<\/p>\n

Garcia will have a chance to present his case at a New York State Athletic Commission hearing, although no date has been announced.<\/p>\n
