A German magazine that claimed an AI-generated interview was actually an exclusive with the Formula One legend Michael Schumacher<\/a> will have to pay the F1 great's family $327,000, a court ruling states.<\/p>\n

In April 2023, German publication\ufeff Die Aktuelle ran a front cover spread promising an exclusive interview with Schumacher, who has not been seen in public since a December 2013 skiing accident.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAt the conclusion of the written piece, it was revealed to have been entirely fabricated by AI – artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

This led to the\ufeff Schumacher family taking legal action, where the Munich Labour Court ruled a settlement must be paid.<\/p>\n

The Funke media group will pay compensation after they apologised to the Schumacher family and fired the editor-in-chief responsible for the article.<\/p>\n

However,\ufeff it's not the first time Die Aktuelle has copped criticism for its coverage of the family.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the magazine ran a photo of Michael and wife Corinna on the front cover, with the headline "Awake".<\/p>\n

But when readers turned to the article, it was about people who have awoken from comas in the past.<\/p>\n

The magazine also won a legal case against the Schumachers in 2015, after a front cover saying "a new love" had entered Corinna's life, only for the article to be about the couple's daughter, Gina.<\/p>\n

Schumacher's family has gone to great\ufeff lengths to maintain Michael's privacy, with the F1 great believed to be at the family's home in Switzerland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
