Streaming and broadcast companies reportedly lost more than $150 million in revenue for the Tyson Fury v Oleksandr Usyk heavyweight world title fight<\/a> due to piracy.<\/p>\n

According to analysis conducted by online intelligence company Yield Sec, at least 20 million fight fans around the world watched Usyk unify the world heavyweight boxing titles in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – for free – a report by The Daily Mail claims.<\/p>\n

That number is the tip of the iceberg, with the data accumulating how many illegal streams, not how many people actually watching each stream.<\/p>\n

\ufeffOf the fans that illegally streamed the event, the report claims 45 per cent were in Europe, with 25 per cent in North America and 16 per cent in Asia.<\/p>\n

Almost four million people viewed an illegal stream of Usyk's split points decision victory in the UK.<\/p>\n

It's understood\ufeff that many illegal streams are funded by advertisements for gambling and\/or crypto schemes, while some charge a small fee of a few dollars.<\/p>\n

"Sports piracy is theft," a DAZN spokesman told Mail Sport. "DAZN invests a significant amount in combatting it, using technology to monitor the activity of users, and educating fans about the risks.<\/p>\n

"It may seem a victimless crime, but most illegal feeds are provided by criminal networks or carry the risk of phishing and identity theft. Our advice is don't risk the sport you care about, or your own data, by using illegal feeds."<\/p>\n

Meantime, reports that Usyk would be stripped of his IBF belt<\/a>, therefore relinquishing his undisputed title, may have been premature, after International Boxing Federation President Daryl Peoples, told BoxingScene Usyk<\/a> can apply for an exemption.<\/p>\n

The problem for the IBF lies in the rematch clause because it will interfere with the sanctioning body's mandatory challenger, Filip Hrgovic, who will face Daniel Dubois, with the winner to face Anthony Joshua for the IBF crown.<\/p>\n

"Right now, Hrgovic-Dubois is not for any title. At this point. I'm sure people are making decisions behind the scenes before they approach me about anything" Peoples said.<\/p>\n

It's said\ufeff the most powerful man in boxing at the moment, Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshkih, wants the undisputed title to remain with the Ukraine champion, so the same title can remain for the Usyk vs Fury rematch.<\/p>\n
