The struggling Warriors<\/a> have produced \ufeffone of the most resilient wins in recent memory, defeating reigning premiers, the Panthers<\/a>, in dramatic fashion on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\ufeffA late penalty goal miss from Dylan Edwards<\/a> was the nail in the coffin for the Panthers, who fell 22-20 in shock fashion against an undermanned Warriors side.<\/p>\n

T\ufeffhe contest could not have started any worse for Andrew Webster's men, with fullback Taine Tuaupiki kicking the ball dead on the full from the opening kickoff and Edwards crossing for the opening try less than two minutes later.<\/p>\n

Marcelo Montoya produced a freakish diving put down to level the scores in the first half but injured his shoulder in the process, before Jarome Luai<\/a> and Scott Sorensen combined for some razzle-dazzle as the Penrith five-eighth scored under the sticks.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The momentum shifted dramatically however when Isaah Yeo<\/a> was sin-binned in the second half\ufeff, allowing the Warriors to cross for two tries in the space of five minutes.<\/p>\n

Penrith regained the lead during the second half, but \ufeffa late try and sideline conversion from Tuaupiki put the Warriors up by two points with eight minutes to go.<\/p>\n

The final \ufeffwrinkle in the clash came with less than a minute to go, when the Panthers received a controversial penalty in front of the posts from 35 metres out, but Edwards swayed it right and the Warriors held on for a crucial victory in their campaign.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Speaking to media post-game, Yeo conceded his sin bin was a costly one for his side.<\/p>\n

"We made it hard on ourselves and then just stupidity [with the sin bin]," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm supposed to be a leader and made a bad judgement call early in that second half. All of a sudden, they score too \u2026 that was poor leadership.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Luai stepped up in the absence of Nathan Cleary in the No.7 jumper and produced a strong individual performance, but was unable to get the Panthers over the line as he fights for a spot in the NSW Blues lineup.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old is in the race to play in the halves given the absence of Cleary and the uncertainty around Mitchell Moses, but the loss at Magic Round could hinder his chances as the likes of Nicho Hynes and Matt Burton remain in the mix. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The win for the Warriors came at a cost with another cruel blow as Wayde Egan suffered a nasty head knock early in the clash and was unable to return. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The recently re-signed \ufeffhooker was already taped up on his elbow and head before the collision and after being diagnosed as showing category one symptoms, won't be available next weekend under the NRL's 11-day stand-down policy.<\/p>\n

Egan will join the likes of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Shaun Johnson on the sidelines as the Warriors drop further down the ladder after a disappointing start to the year. \ufeff<\/p>\n
