The family of iconic Nine commentator Ray Warren<\/a> have pleaded for the return of his NRL Hall of Fame ring after it was stolen in a home invasion.<\/p>\n

The break-in occurred early on Saturday. Warren, his wife Cher, daughter Holly and grandson Mateo were in the house.<\/p>\n

"Between 2am-5am, someone broke into our family home, whilst my parents were asleep upstairs and my son and myself were asleep two metres away from where they entered," Holly Warren wrote on Facebook. <\/p>\n

"They ransacked my handbag, my dad's office, stole our car keys and a wallet. But worst of all they stole something irreplaceable. My dad's 'Hall of Fame Ring'. <\/p>\n

"For anyone who knows my dad, knows he has worked extremely hard to get where he is and he doesn't deserve this. <\/p>\n

"We are so grateful that we are safe and no one was hurt but it's a horribly intrusive feeling knowing someone would do something so violating and disrespectful."<\/p>\n

The Warren family are pleading for information that might see the ring returned.<\/p>\n

Warren's son Mark reposted Holly's message on Instagram and branded the thieves "coward scum".<\/p>\n

"I also feel a sense of helplessness, that this scum, could take a treasured family piece Dad's @nrl Hall Of Fame Ring that night, so special on so many levels to us," Mark wrote.<\/p>\n

'Rabs' Warren has been a rugby league commentator with Nine for more than 30 years. Now 77, he is the revered voice of the game.<\/p>\n

He was inducted into the NRL Hall of Fame in 2019<\/a>, the first broadcaster awarded the game's ultimate honour.<\/p>\n

He confirmed this month that he could continue to call the NRL this season, despite giving serious consideration to retirement<\/a> at the end of last year after he called State of Origin III from Nine's old studios at Willoughby.<\/p>\n

"When I walked away after that Origin, I thought that was it," Warren told the Sydney Morning Herald.<\/em><\/p>\n

"Then I thought, 'Hang on, I'd done something I'd never do before': calling off the tube. I'd never contemplated not being at the event, in times gone by, but that was the reality of calling last year. <\/p>\n

"I was ready to pull the pin on everything last year but when I thought about it that wasn't the type of season I'd like to go out on."<\/p>\n
