E\ufeffssendon<\/a> ruckman Todd Goldstein<\/a> will face off against his old side, North Melbourne<\/a>, for the first time since being traded to the red and black.<\/p>\n

And if his start to the 2024 season is anything to go by, the Kangaroos should come prepared.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old\ufeff will go at it alone, with fellow ruckman Sam Draper ruled out with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

But, Bombers coach Brad Scott says it's no drama\ufeff, as he heaped praise on the veteran big man.<\/p>\n

"The difficulty with Goldy is he looks like he's 26," Scott said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\"Goldstein<\/p>\n

"He's a player who eats up the work and enjoys the work and thrives on the work.<\/p>\n

"He's just a workhorse, he always has been.<\/p>\n

"He's done every session. We have looked to be proactive in terms of managing his workload, but he just eats up the work."<\/p>\n

As for what lies ahead after their clash against the Roos, \ufeffScott says they'll look to rest the ageing ruckman, to ensure he can peak towards the pointy end of the year, if they can reach the finals.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/p>\n

"There's no indication he needs a rest, but we'll be smart about it and work out what's best for him," he said.<\/p>\n

"He's in as good a shape as anyone on our list at the moment."<\/p>\n

Essendon as a whole has entered 2024 with a new found edge, sitting pretty in third on the ladder after nine rounds, with a 6-2-1 record.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But Scott is refusing to jump to any conclusions, or even think about a September appearance just yet, despite their convincing win over one of this year's flag favourites, the Giants, in round nine.<\/p>\n

\"Goldstein<\/p>\n

"We're still really aware that we've got a lot of work to do in a lot of areas of our game," Scott said.<\/p>\n

"Our players are setting a really high standard for the style of footy they want to play.<\/p>\n
