Broncos great Wendell Sailor<\/a> has revealed Latrell Mitchell<\/a> has form with confronting former players-turned-commentators over perceived negative comments.<\/p>\n

Mitchell reportedly confronted Braith Anasta at the Chin Chin restaurant<\/a> on Wednesday night over criticism of the Rabbitohs<\/a> on Fox Sports' flagship NRL 360 program.<\/p>\n

After a brief conversation inside the restaurant, Mitchell invited Anasta outside, where they continued to argue in an "animated but never physical" way.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Triple M's The Rush Hour<\/em> on Thursday afternoon, Sailor revealed Mitchell had also confronted him in a pub over his own criticism during the NRL pre-season.<\/p>\n

"I understand where Latrell's coming from, (he's part) of a new generation of players, they see social media, they see the quotes," he said.<\/p>\n

"Latrell's a person who's not going to step back. Pre-season, he had the same sort of thing with me \u2013 just sort of said to me 'mate \u2026 (can you) be a bit more positive please in and around the game'.<\/p>\n

"He wasn't being aggressive with me, but asked me to be a bit more positive."<\/p>\n

Sailor said such confrontations are part and parcel of being a commentator, while also maintaining friendships with still-active players.<\/p>\n

"I just said I had a job to do \u2013 it's nothing personal, it was just my opinion," Sailor explained.<\/p>\n

"I said 'I'm a fan of you Latrell, but when some things happen and I get asked for an opinion' \u2026 I don't think it's personal with Braith. He's been asked a question and he's got a job to do.<\/p>\n

"That's the way that I see it with the players these days \u2013 we don't tell them what to do."<\/p>\n

Sailor said he respected Mitchell was able to broach the subject with both he and Anasta, but said he could've gone about it in a different way.<\/p>\n

"I respect the fact Latrell feels he can actually come and talk to us, or have that say to us personally," Sailor said.<\/p>\n

"(But) I understand both their families (were there) too. It wouldn't have been the place that I would have said anything to Braith.<\/p>\n

"I would have just said 'mate, can I have a chat to you at some stage'."<\/p>\n
