T\ufeffhe Gold Coast Suns<\/a> are well and truly a force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n

They pulled apart Geelong<\/a> in a 64-point flogging in Darwin on Thursday night \u2013 the Cats third consecutive loss.<\/p>\n

The win sends Damien Hardwick's Suns skyrocketing from 10th to sixth on the ladder with a 6-4 record.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Suns ran rings around the Cats, who looked completely flat after quarter time.<\/p>\n

After the first break, Geelong managed to boot 10 goals, while Gold Coast tore them to shreds in the middle, with their forwards piling on 22 majors.\ufeff<\/p>\n

In the third term, the Cats made the call to sub off star midfielder Cam Guthrie\ufeff, who had minimal impact around the ball.<\/p>\n

In comparison, Guthrie's midfield opponents, Matt Rowell (35 touches), Noah Anderson (41 touches) and Touk Miller (32 touches), \ufeffmade a mockery of the Cats lineup.<\/p>\n

It was Geelong coach Chris Scott's third biggest defeat in his coaching career, while the Suns booted over 150 points for the first time in their 13-year history.<\/p>\n

Their 164 points is also the highest score of any team in the 2024 season so far.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAs for the Suns forwards, Bailey Humphrey booted a career-high five goals, while Jack Lukosius also booted five and Ben King kicked four.<\/p>\n

Tyson Stengle (three goals), Gryan Miers (29 touchesm two goals) and Max Holmes (32 disposals) were the only shining lights for the Cats.<\/p>\n

The Suns have now won their last six games up in Darwin, making TIO Stadium well and truly their own fortress.<\/p>\n

The Cats struggled through the humidity\ufeff that the Suns have come to know and love. It's only the third time since 2007 that Geelong has lost three games in a row.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThey'll now be forced to go back to the drawing board, as they face one of the flag favourites, GWS, at GMHBA Stadium next Saturday.<\/p>\n
