Australia<\/a> has been named as host nation for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup, following the strong interest generated from the Women's World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Australia was the only member nation to submit a bid to host the tournament, with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) executive committee confirming the decision in Bangkok on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"I am confident we will see a more vibrant and competitive edition in 2026 in Australia, where the unrivalled passion for the women's game is so palpable," AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said.<\/p>\n

The huge success of the 2023\ufeff Women's World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, set a strong precedent for the call, with the Matildas qualifying for the semi-finals before losing the third-place play-off to Sweden.<\/p>\n

The games will be played in NSW, Queensland and Western Australia.<\/p>\n
