\ufeffAmid a wave of publicity for Mike Tyson's<\/a> fight with Jake Paul in July, Floyd Mayweather<\/a> is reportedly set to make a shock return to boxing the following month.<\/p>\n

Mayweather, 47, retired from the sport after his 50th victory against Conor McGregor in 2017 but has competed in various exhibition bouts since.<\/p>\n

And he's set to participate in another, according to ESPN, with Mayweather in line to meet former foe Victor Ortiz, 37, on August 25 in Mexico.<\/p>\n

Mayweather defeated Ortiz in the 42nd bout of his pro career via a controversial knockout in the fourth round for WBC welterweight world title.<\/p>\n

After losing a point for a headbutt, Ortiz offered Mayweather a "no hard feelings" hug, before the undefeated star shoved him away and cracked him with a left hook while his hands were down, before telling him to "protect yourself at all times".<\/p>\n

Ortiz failed \ufeffto get up and his night was finished but Mayweather has always defended himself against criticism regarding the moment.<\/p>\n

Even after the fight he was admonished by legendary commentator Larry Merchant, before telling him he "[didn't] know s— about boxing".<\/p>\n

The former pound-for-pound king has returned to the ring sporadically in the form of several exhibition bouts since his fight with McGregor.<\/p>\n

In 2018, he stopped Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa before facing Logan Paul and Don Moore in non-scored contests.<\/p>\n

The boxing legend then beat another Japanese opponent in Mikuru Asakura before defeating Deji Olatunji in Dubai.<\/p>\n
