Cameron Waters is set to become the next Supercars<\/a> star to take on the NASCAR Cup Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Waters is a familiar face on dirt ovals in Australia, he won't be racing on a speedway.<\/p>\n

The two-time Bathurst 1000<\/a> runner-up will contest the upcoming road course race at Sonoma with RFK Racing in a Ford Mustang on June 9.<\/p>\n

Waters will join Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher at RFK Racing in the "Stage 60" entry, an initiative by the team designed for part-time programs in the Cup Series.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, David Ragan piloted the car at the Daytona 500.<\/p>\n

He'll not be the only current Supercars driver in the 110-lapper, with Triple Eight Race Engineering's Will Brown likely to be confirmed in the coming weeks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Waters, who competes for Tickford Racing in Supercars, recently visited the RFK Racing stable ahead of his debut.<\/p>\n

"This opportunity for me is a dream come true and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series," said Waters.<\/p>\n

"I've been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road racing experience to the test this summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It takes a village to make something like this come to fruition."<\/p>\n

Waters earlier this year made his NASCAR Truck Series debut at Martinsville Speedway where he wound up 30th before finishing 19th at Kansas Speedway.<\/p>\n

Ford global motorsport boss Mark Rushbrook hailed the arrival of Waters to the Cup Series.<\/p>\n

"Cam has certainly logged his share of miles the last couple of months flying back and forth from Australia, but he's done a great job familiarising himself with NASCAR and working with David Ragan in our simulator," said Rushbrook.<\/p>\n

"It's always exciting when we can have someone from another part of our global motorsports family compete in a different series and we feel this is a great opportunity for him to showcase his talent.<\/p>\n
