B\ufefflake Mozer<\/a> could become hot property later this year – and the Broncos<\/a> rookie will have an opportunity to impress on a big stage at Magic Round.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old is back in the NRL for just his second appearance on Friday, named on the bench for Brisbane after dummy-half Billy Walters copped a wrist injury.<\/p>\n

Mozer is one of the most highly-regarded youngsters coming through the grades and has earned comparisons to Storm legend Cameron Smith<\/a> for his craftiness out of hooker and his ability to read a game, despite his age and inexperience.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThis season, Mozer has registered five try assists and scored another two himself for Souths Logan in the Queensland Cup competition, forcing his way back into the top grade.<\/p>\n

However, with the Broncos opting to extend Walters until the end of 2026<\/a>, Mozer's pathway to the starting No.9 jumper \ufeffremains blocked at Red Hill.<\/p>\n

Mozer is signed until the end of next season, which will see him become a free agent on November 1 if he doesn't re-sign with Brisbane before then – and rival clubs will undoubtedly be knocking at his door should he become available.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Nine's QLDER<\/em><\/a>, club legend Darren Lockyer<\/a> put the onus back on Mozer to perform this weekend and stake his claim for a permanent spot.<\/p>\n

"It's up to him to let his footy do the talking," Lockyer said.<\/p>\n

"He'll have some decisions to make, he becomes a free agent on November 1.<\/p>\n

"It's up to him if he either says 'I'm gonna push my way into the team or if I have to wait a couple of years, am I willing to do that?'… All he can do right now is make the most of his opportunity in first grade … it's been a long time between drinks.<\/p>\n

"You've got an opportunity Blake, so if you play well and show that you've got all the right signs with your attitude, you give yourself the best chance of staying there."<\/p>\n
