R\ufeffed Bull<\/a> senior advisor Helmut Marko<\/a> has dismissed claims that sister team driver Daniel Ricciardo<\/a> could be replaced during the next Formula 1<\/a> race weekend, labelling the reports as "nonsense".<\/p>\n

This season had been \ufefftouted as Ricciardo's audition for a return drive with the top-tier team in 2025. However, after failing to fire in the first six rounds with RB<\/a>, the 34-year-old is now fighting to keep his spot on the grid.<\/p>\n

Ricciardo sits \ufeff14th in the drivers' standings \u2014 behind his teammate Yuki Tsunoda<\/a> in 10th who has repeatedly outperformed the Western Australian this year.<\/p>\n

With mounting pressure on Ricciardo\ufeff, social media is rife with reports that Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson could replace the Aussie at this week's Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy.<\/p>\n

Lawson is waiting in the wings after an impressive five-race stint in the place of Ricciardo when he broke his hand<\/a> last season and is desperate to secure a full-time drive.<\/p>\n

However, in his column for German publication Speedweek, Marko \u2014 \ufeffwho heads up Red Bull's Driver Development Program \u2014 declared that the whisperings around Ricciardo and Lawson are unfounded and misconstrued.<\/p>\n

"The rumours that Ricciardo will be replaced by Liam Lawson at Imola are nonsense," he wrote.<\/p>\n

"Liam's manager from New Zealand … he has certain dreams and they are made known through some media, including from New Zealand.<\/p>\n

"Nothing at all is planned in Imola.<\/p>\n

"But, of course, we will look at this in the future."<\/p>\n

Red Bull is no stranger to a mid-season driver switcheroo with former AlphaTauri driver Nyck De Vries replaced by Ricciardo after just 10 grand prix starts last season.<\/p>\n

Other high-profile changes include the injection of a 17-year-old Max Verstappen after four grands prix in 2016 and Alex Albon replacing Pierre Gasly 12 rounds into the 2019 season.<\/p>\n

At last week's \ufeffMiami Grand Prix<\/a>, Ricciardo \ufeffrecorded his best finish since his triumph at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix after finishing fourth in the sprint race.<\/p>\n

However, his \ufeffrun of form earlier in the weekend did not carry over into qualifying as he fell back down the grid<\/a>. He finished 15th in the grand prix having never been in the hunt.<\/p>\n

Despite his poor showing in qualifying and the grand prix, Marko was pleased \ufeffwith Ricciardo's flashes of promise in Miami.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"Daniel also delivered a remarkable performance in the sprint [race]," he said.<\/p>\n

"Fourth place was a sensation and he set the fastest time in sector three.<\/p>\n

"This sector consists mainly of slow corners. If you drive precisely there, you will gain an incredible amount of time.<\/p>\n

"And if you make a mistake, it's doubly punishing because of the slow speed."<\/p>\n
