Parramatta<\/a> great R\ufeffon Lynch has passed away at the age of 84.<\/p>\n

One of the club's best players through the 1960s, Lynch amassed well over 200 first grade appearances during his stints with the Eels and Panthers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A tough back-rower, Lynch came through the grades in his hometown of Young, before moving to Forbes to begin his rugby league career.<\/p>\n

Parramatta noticed \ufeffLynch's talent at 22 years of age and brought him to Sydney, where he would go on to have a fantastic career in the top grade.<\/p>\n

"Ron was renowned as one of Parramatta's greatest players," Peter V'landys said. <\/p>\n

"He played 238 games during the 1960s and 1970s, holding his own amongst some of the finest players the game has produced. <\/p>\n

"He was also highly respected and regarded by those who came across him.<\/p>\n

"On behalf of the commission, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Ron's family, and all those who knew him."<\/p>\n

Lynch also represented NSW on 17 occasions and Australia 12 times, including the tour of Great Britain and France in the late-1960s.<\/p>\n

He finished his career with 238 first grade matches to his name after retiring from the game at the end of the 1973 season with Penrith.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
