M\ufeffatthew Lloyd<\/a> is adamant that Richmond<\/a> will not offer superstar Dustin Martin<\/a> a fresh contract at season's end.<\/p>\n

Martin's mega nine-year deal comes to an end in 2024, after the midfielder helped the Tigers to three flags in the past decade and collected all three Norm Smith Medals and a Brownlow Medal to go with it.<\/p>\n

Martin is now 32 and questions are naturally arising about what the next chapter of his career holds – whether that be retirement, another year in the yellow and black, or even a move to a rival club.<\/p>\n

Lloyd thinks that Tigers coach Adem Yze will be fearless in making the tough call to not offer Martin a new contract.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Adem Yze was the one who took pictures down at Punt Road wasn't he, of the pas\ufefft?," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

\"Will<\/p>\n

"Forget about what they've done in the past, Adem Yze is going to be stronger than he\ufeff's ever been before. [He is] after what is best for Richmond.<\/p>\n

"I'm not sure spending $750,000\ufeff on Dustin Martin [is best]."<\/p>\n

The comments come after the Tigers suffered a dismal 91-point loss at the hands of the Western Bulldogs in round nine.<\/p>\n

But Caroline Wilson is adamant that the Tigers wouldn't even bother offering Martin another mega deal, considering his recent drop in form and "lack of hunger".<\/p>\n

"There's no way they'd spend that money on Dustin Martin," Wilson said.<\/p>\n

"$500,000 absolute tops. At the moment, he's limping towards 300 (games).<\/p>\n

\"Martin<\/p>\n

"He wouldn't get more than that, I am certain, with the way he is now."<\/p>\n

\ufeffMartin's season has been well below his early years, with Kane Cornes recently raising concerns surrounding Martin's new role in defence<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"He's working hard and he's really looked engaged \ufeffand he's demanding the football, but Dustin getting the ball here (half back flank), looking for cheapies (handballs) around the back, I don't need to see that – and spraying the footy," Cornes said on Footy Classified<\/em> after round eight.<\/p>\n

"Dustin Martin's role was interesting. (It was) the first time I'd seen him come up the ground \ufeffand look for cheap handballs in the back half, where we have not associated Dustin Martin with that at all.<\/p>\n

"I thought it was a bit of a warning sign.\ufeff"<\/p>\n
