Angus Crichton<\/a> has declared that he will not "be sitting behind" David Fifita<\/a> for the 2025 season, leaving the ball in the Roosters<\/a> court to make a decision on his future.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old second-rower is off contract at the end of the season and has yet to announce whether he will be back in the Tricolours \ufeffnext year.<\/p>\n

Crichton labelled the club's latest signing, Fifita, as an "interesting" move and admitted that the pair may not be able to fit into the same team, given they both play on the left.<\/p>\n

Fifita inked a four-year deal worth around $3.3 million with the Roosters last week<\/a>, leaving question marks over the future of Crichton, who is off contract at the end of this season.<\/p>\n

"I don't want to be sitting behind anyone," Crichton said.<\/p>\n

"If there's an opportunity that makes sense (elsewhere), then I'll definitely look at it.<\/p>\n

"I'm not going to rush it, especially with the Fifita stuff that's come out now.<\/p>\n

"That's a good enough reason for me to take my time, and make smart decisions."<\/p>\n

Crichton is in strong contention to don a NSW Blues jersey in the coming weeks, with several star performances, including in his most recent outing against the Warriors, where he scored a double in the opening 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

Robinson said he has not lost interest in re-signing Crichton, however, is aware that salary cap constraints that make it tricky to invest too much in one position.<\/p>\n

The premiership-winning coach has an extensive line-up of back-rowers already on his roster, with Nat Butcher, Sitili Tupouniua, and Victor Radley<\/a> all signed on to the Roosters until the end of 2027 and young gun Siua Wong tied up until 2026.<\/p>\n

Despite reports that Crichton's management had engaged in discussions with the club last week, he insists that he is yet to hear anything personally from Robinson about the next steps.<\/p>\n

"I probably won't go looking for him (Robinson), but if he wants to talk to me he knows where to find me," Crichton said.<\/p>\n

"It does make you question where their head's at.<\/p>\n

"No one's talked to me, which is funny.<\/p>\n

"Last I heard they were keen (to re-sign me), but then obviously that (Fifita news) came out. It's an interesting one and something I'll have to monitor.<\/p>\n

\ufeffIt has been reported that Crichton's first NRL club, the South Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a>, have expressed interest in bringing him on for 2025.<\/p>\n

The Penrith Panthers<\/a> have yet to confirm interest in Crichton, but the club has money to spend and is clearly interested in a back-rower given the offer made to Fifita before losing out to the Roosters.<\/p>\n

Crichton has also previously discussed the potential to make a code switch to rugby union, with Europe an attractive prospect.<\/p>\n

"It was tough last year coming in. I was underdone (after personal issues), and I was sort of playing a bit in the middle which isn't my spot," he said.<\/p>\n

"Even at the start of the year, Robbo wanted to give those other boys first crack at the edges, which was his decision.<\/p>\n

"In the trial, he played me at prop. I'm not a prop.<\/p>\n

"I'm an out-and-out backrower so forcing his hand and making him put me there and playing me 80 minutes, I've been able to get the consistency."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
