Real Madrid<\/a> manager Carlo Ancelotti reprised \ufeffhis iconic cigar smoking photo<\/a> as the storied club celebrated its 36th La Liga<\/a> title in fine fashion on Monday (AEST).<\/p>\n

Ancelotti had vowed to indulge with "a cigar and sunglasses" after clinching the title with a 4-0 win over Granada.<\/p>\n

And 'The Don' did just that during an open top bus parade in front of thousands of jubilant fans in Spain's capital.<\/p>\n

It was a throwback to the viral 2022 photo after Madrid beat Liverpool in the Champions League \ufefffinal.<\/p>\n

Ancelotti is the most decorated manager in Champions League history with four trophies from five finals.<\/p>\n

The 64-year-old will coach a sixth against Borussia Dortmund in London on June 2 (AEST).<\/a><\/p>\n

Madrid clinched the title with four rounds to spare but couldn't celebrate the triumph immediately because they still had to play the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals.<\/p>\n

Madrid rallied with two late goals by striker Joselu<\/a> to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1 at the Bernabeu last week, advancing 3-2 on aggregate.<\/p>\n

"I'm sure that in three weeks we will be back here," Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos vowed to the crowd.<\/p>\n

Captain Nacho draped the statue of the goddess Cybele with a Madrid flag and scarf, then lifted the league trophy as fans cheered.<\/p>\n

The trophy was eventually handed to the team during a ceremony at the club's training centre.<\/p>\n

"I think it's the best squad that I've ever had in my career," Ancelotti said.<\/p>\n

Madrid usually also celebrates titles with fans at the Bernabeu, but the famous stadium was being used for a concert.<\/p>\n

Club president Florentino Perez also spoke to the crowd as they chanted the team's traditional fight songs.<\/p>\n

"This team overcame a situation that looked irreversible," Perez said, referring to the series of injuries that affected players early in the season, including serious knee ligament tears by Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao and David Alaba.<\/p>\n
