New coach Jo Yapp \ufeffadmitted the Wallaroos<\/a> were slapped with a reality check in a 33-14 loss to a muscular Canada in Sydney's wet.<\/p>\n

Saturday's Pacific Four Series<\/a> Test highlighted the gulf between the world's No.4 and No.5 ranked women's sides \ufeffand the slippery conditions played into the hands of Canada's powerful pack.<\/p>\n

All five of the visitors' tries were scored \ufeffby front rowers as hooker Sara Cline and loosehead McKinley Hunt grabbed doubles at Allianz Stadium before tighthead DaLeaka Menin went over to seal the deal.<\/p>\n

Yapp, the former England halfback, was signed as Australia's first fulltime national women's coach \ufeffin December.<\/a><\/p>\n

It was her first Test in charge.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"One-hundred per cent (a reality check) and that was coming into this whole competition, it's about finding out exactly where we're at," Yapp said.<\/p>\n

"We've had eight days together and I think on the back of that performance there's loads of positives, but we know now exactly what we need to do."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Wallaroos hooker Tania Naden added to the front rower try scoring \ufefftheme with a first half rolling maul strike while Australia were also awarded a penalty try for a deliberate Canada knock down.<\/p>\n

Canada \ufefflead the competition with a 2-0 record, having thrashed the United States 50-7 in last month's opener.<\/p>\n

Australia now tackle the USA – also beaten 57-5 by New Zealand on Saturday – in Melbourne on Friday.<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately we just got a really slow start and that first 10-15 minutes, we just were losing the collisions. Maybe that's not having that hit out that they've had. But then once we got into the game, we competed really well.<\/p>\n

"There was just a couple of times where people are learning new stuff and inevitably then there's going to be some mistakes.<\/p>\n
