One of S\ufefft Kilda<\/a> youngster Mattaes Phillipou's managers has been caught in an awkward social media moment after he openly criticised coach Ross Lyon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In his second year with the club, \ufeffPhillipou was dropped for the first time in his career for the Saints clash with Hawthorn<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hawthorn went on to win the match by five points, putting the Saints at 14th on the ladder.<\/p>\n

9news Melbourne reporter Tom Morris revealed on Nine's Footy Furnace<\/em> the 19-year-old's manager who handles endorsements \ufeffhad tweeted his frustrations with Lyon after the loss.<\/p>\n

"\ufeff@davidking34 tell me who in the forward line has improved under Lyon? (Mitch) Owens, (Max) King, Phillipou have gotten considerably worse under Lyon. When they came in young and just played, they looked exciting. He is destroying them," the tweet read.<\/p>\n

The account has since been deleted.<\/p>\n

Morris detailed he has since spoken to the manager who regretted his tweet. \ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I've just spoken to his manager, his name is Ned and he said 'it was an emotional response from the couch and I have no knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes and it's an error'," he said.<\/p>\n

Despite the regret around the situation, it comes at a poor time for St Kilda as they look to rescue their season.<\/p>\n

On Sunday Kane Cornes took aim at Lyon again, calling him "an excuse machine" after several losses<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

AFL icon Leigh Matthews \ufeffagreed the club doesn't need those sort of incidents at this time but believes there needs to be an onus on the forwards at St Kilda.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffYou don't (need that). The thing is (there are) players up field subconsciously (you) either have confidence or they don't have confidence in to kick the ball long and deep," he said.<\/p>\n

"If you kick the ball long and deep and it bounces out more often, you try to be a little bit more slow, a little bit more precise because all of a sudden the ball comes out the opposite side of the ground and the midfielders are out of position.<\/p>\n
