George Kambosos Jr.<\/a> has fallen short \ufeffagainst Vasiliy Lomachenko<\/a> in their IBF lightweight world title bout on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The tenacious Australian struggled to match the class of Lomachenko, who is one of the best boxers of this generation, in front of a sold-out RAC Arena in Perth.<\/p>\n

Despite a promising start, Kambosos was no match for Lomachenko and fell short via TKO after a series of brutal body shots in the 11th round.<\/p>\n

Kambosos managed to get back to his feet momentarily, but a second onslaught from the Ukrainian legend was enough for the referee to wave it off and his corner to throw the towel in and protect their fighter. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI'm a tough Aussie bastard," he said post-fight.<\/p>\n

"We don't want to take easy fights, we step to the best. This guy is one of the best of all time. We started well and stuck to the game plan … we tried our best.<\/p>\n

"He is a true champion and he deserves that belt. I gave it my all, that's all I can do … that's the type of fighter I am. I'm a warrior, I'm still standing … I ain't dead."<\/p>\n

Kambosos has now lost three of his past four fights, including two-straight defeats at the hands of Devin Haney<\/a> in 2022, placing his boxing career at a crossroad.<\/p>\n

As for Lomachenko, he proved his class inside the ropes once again with a dominant display and was a step ahead of the Aussie for the large majority of the fight.<\/p>\n
