Brisbane playmaker Ezra Mam<\/a> pushed his case for State of Origin<\/a> selection in the win over Parramatta on Friday night, with the playmaker shining bright in Adam Reynolds' absence.<\/p>\n

With Maroons coach Billy Slater in attendance, \ufeffMam was pivotal in leading the team to a 30-14 victory<\/a>, after their capitulation to the Roosters in round nine.<\/p>\n

Coach Kevin Walters resisted moving Mam to halfback and instead brought in rookie Josh Rogers, and that combination seemed to work perfectly, giving Mam the space needed to dominate in attack.<\/p>\n

Mam set up the Broncos' first try of the night and scored one of his own with a chip and chase, displaying the type of maturity needed without his regular halves partner.<\/p>\n

Mam was selected by Slater in a 34-man Queensland squad in February, joining other rookies\ufeff in Beau Fermor, Heilum Luki and Sam Walker.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Nine's post-match coverage, Slater expressed admiration for Mam's performance, stating that rep honours aren't far away for the 21-year-old.<\/p>\n

"We had a group of players get together in February\ufeff and Ezra Mam was one of those players," he said.<\/p>\n

"I'm sure representative honours are around the corner for Ezra and I'm sure that's a goal of his as well.<\/p>\n

"He's playing the standard of State of Origin level. I'm sure if Ezra Mam had a Maroons jersey on in the near future he certainly\ufeff wouldn't let anyone down."<\/p>\n

Mam got the Broncos off to an ideal start against the Eels, when he picked up a loose ball and made his way downfield before finding Reece Walsh to open the scoring.<\/p>\n

Then in the 53rd minute Mam found some space before he chipped over Blaize Talagi and regathered to score to extend Brisbane's lead.<\/p>\n

Walters told reporters after the match his team got a bit lucky but was impressed with their defence.<\/p>\n

"When we had to score, we picked up some points which was very helpful throughout the game," said Walters.<\/p>\n

"Most of our tries were off no structure, just playing footy, do we got a bit lucky on a couple of occasions but I thought our try-line defence was very good. <\/p>\n
