T\ufeffhe AFL<\/a> has confirmed that before all nine games across round eight, clubs will stand arm in arm to shine a spotlight on gender-based violence.<\/p>\n

An MC will read a given script, which will then be followed by a moment silence to pay tribute to victims lost to violent acts across 2024.<\/p>\n

All 18 AFL clubs are on board with the initiative which will involve all players, coaches and umpires before the first bounce this weekend.<\/p>\n

The script, which all MCs will be tasked with reading, will bring light to recent spike in deaths of women around the country.<\/p>\n

"Enough is enough and this must stop. Behind every death is a woman who lived and who was loved," MCs will read.<\/p>\n

"When it comes to violence against women, the only acceptable figure is zero."<\/p>\n

This initiative is the brain child of West Coast CEO and former Adelaide Crows coach Don Pyke.<\/p>\n

\ufeffA statement was also sent out to all clubs on Wednesday night to lock in the initiative.<\/p>\n

"We understand the industry is far from perfect, but we must continue to educate and continue to take action," the statement read.<\/p>\n
