{"id":389267,"date":"2024-04-30T01:40:51","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T01:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=389267"},"modified":"2024-04-30T03:05:26","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T03:05:26","slug":"wallaroos-massive-reward-for-champion-tahs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=389267","title":{"rendered":"Wallaroos&#039; massive reward for champion Tahs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than a third of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/wallaroos\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Wallaroos\">Wallaroos<\/a> squad for the upcoming Pacific Four Series will be made up of <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/waratahs\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Waratahs\">Waratahs<\/a> players.<\/p>\n<p>The Waratahs won this year&#x27;s <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/super-rugby\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Super Rugby Women&#x27;s\">Super Rugby Women&#x27;s<\/a> competition, <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/rugby\/news-2024-super-rugby-womens-final-nsw-waratahs-vs-fijian-drua-results-highlights-video\/42a201ab-ac71-459b-8137-8233322fdec6\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"defeating the Fijian Drua in a 50-14 drubbing\">defeating the Fijian Drua in a 50-14 drubbing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Led by newly-appointed head coach Jo Yapp, the 30-player squad will play Canada, the United States, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Watch all the action from the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season, with<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/9.nine.com.au\/KRnrlm\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>every match ad-free, live and on demand on Stan Sport<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A total of 13 players from the Waratahs have been selected with eight from the Brumbies, four from Force, three from the Reds, and one from the Rebels.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"07ed8b2a-a9d2-4644-bcc4-6e2ab132dab7\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/07ed8b2a-a9d2-4644-bcc4-6e2ab132dab7\" alt=\"The NSW Waratahs celebrate victory following the Super Rugby Women&#x27;s grand final match against the Fijian Drua at Ballymore Stadium.\" data-width=\"3794\" data-height=\"2530\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of the 30 players, 20 of them are from the O&#x27;Reilly Cup and WXV squads of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Wallaroos lock and Force star Michaela Leonard has retained her place as the captain despite Piper Duck returning from injury, who was named the Wallaroos captain a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>There are nine potential debutants including Allana Sikimeti, Sally Fuesaina, Lydia Kavoa, and Biola Dawa from the Brumbies, Western Force duo Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke and Samantha Wood, the Waratahs&#x27; Caitlyn Halse, the Reds&#x27; Shalom Sauaso, and Rebels player\u00a0Tiarah Minns.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"f97ea4b9-da22-473e-8e14-843d9aeaa39b\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/f97ea4b9-da22-473e-8e14-843d9aeaa39b-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Michaela Leonard (middle) of the Force will captain the Wallaroos in 2024.\" data-width=\"5365\" data-height=\"3576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Emily Chancellor, Bree-Anna Cheatham, Jasmin Huriwai, and Adiana Talakai were unavailable for selection due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>An additional 10 players will join the Wallaroos as part of a development squad that will join a camp before the first Test.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Super Rugby Women&#x27;s competition has been really competitive and has given us a great opportunity to not only observe our managed group but up-and-coming players too,&quot; said Yapp.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We feel the squad we have selected for the Pacific Four Series gives us a good mix of experience and youth. We are really looking forward to getting into camp and kick starting the competition against Canada.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6351911125112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/desiree-miller-try.png\" alt=\"Waratahs catch Drua napping for runaway try\" data-vms-id=\"ref:clvj1jvfj00090hpdx5mro4nt\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yapp said the addition of a development squad was an important step for the Wallaroos.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We will also bring in 10 development players into the training squad for the first six days,&quot; she explained.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It is important that we start to expose more players to that next level up.
