High-level discussions are underway to secure the long-term future of LIV Golf<\/a> Adelaide after this weekend's tournament attracted nearly 100,000 spectators.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"When you walk around the course and you see the smile on people's faces, that's testament to how good a time they were having and how well the tournament went," tournament director Nick Haslam said.<\/p>\n

While the tournament was predominantly a resounding success, there were isolated incidents of unruly behaviour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A full water bottle struck Lucas Herbert's caddie, and chairs were thrown by some spectators, who were ejected from the venue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"You're always going to have a few peanuts who push the envelope and they should suffer the consequences of that whether that be eviction from the event or banning in the future," South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said.<\/p>\n

LIV Golf will stay at Adelaide's Grange Golf Club until at least 2026, however, as revealed by 9News, negotiations are also underway to potentially move the tournament to February to avoid unpredictable weather conditions.<\/p>\n

But now, South Australia faces competition to retain the event as other states eye off hosting rights.<\/p>\n

"The problem you've got is you do something, it's a success, and now other people want to take it away from us," Malinauskas said.<\/p>\n
